Bold of him to wear a mustard-colored suit, too. Guy marches to the beat of his own drummer. Really well. Here we go!
Carrie Underwood looks gorgeous backstage. So happy with her win. So humble and approachable. Lovely to chat with her for a bit.
Did you know? This is the first televised performance of LL Cool J's "Whaddup,” a track from his forthcoming new album Authentic Hip Hop.
It's an awesome genre-mash: Our dapper host is on vocals with the legendary Chuck D, Tom Morello is on soon-to-be raging guitar, and the heavily tatted Blink-182's Travis Barker is on drums. And check out the DJ: the scorching hot Z-Trip! Whaddup!
"Whaddup" is off LL's soon-to-be-released album "Authentic Hip-Hop." Does it get more authentic than Chuck D banging out a rap? Nope. No posers here.
This is a rager, is whaddup. Quickie fact: Morello is the newest member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, filling in for Steven Van Zandt, who's on hiatus.
No wonder the Boss wants him onhand. Awesome solo. MCA forever for sure.
Who's enjoying this the most? Impossible to say. They're all loving it. But so are we -- these guys are letting it rip. It's yet another impossible-to-forget GRAMMY moment. One among many tonight for the history books.
Whew! That's a wrap, everybody! And after one fired-up rap by LL & company. It was an incredible three and a half hours, and I want to thank you for spending it with us at GRAMMY.com. Juanes is back here. Any questions?
Juanes tells me he wants to dedicate his GRAMMY ("Best Latin Pop Album") to his country of Colombia.
Juanes tells me he was excited to perform an Elton John song. "I'm a big fan," he says. "It was a little hard to sing in English."
Juanes continues, "but I practiced a lot. Perhaps I will do more in English, but I will definitely sing more in Spanish" [laughs]
Juanes is candid and tells me, "A year ago I was not so certain about my music, but right now I could not be happier. Music saved me again."
